Girls’ Soccer strives to give Plainfield North a run for their money in Conference this season

The girls’ soccer team approaches this spring with experience across the board. Head coach David Brown hopes that the team could use the extra experience to their advantage and believes it will help the rest develop through the season.

“Our expectations are to be a highly competitive team in every game we play. We want to play the best teams in the area to challenge ourselves and grow as players,” Brown said.

According to Brown, Plainfield North won conference seven years in a row, and Oswego, who usually fields a good team, presents the Lady Cougars with a challenge this year.

“We plan on beating Plainfield North, taking on conference, and making this the best season yet,” senior, Alexandra Burns, who plays midfield/forward said.

Junior Marissa Harkness, first year on the varsity squad, looks forward to the challenges that come along the way, and also anticipates becoming closer to the girls on the team.

For this year’s team, experienced players return from last season, and Brown believes that this experience could give them an advantage over their opposition.

“I hope that these returning players will help our own team acclimate the players that have not played at the varsity level before,” Brown said.

On April 9, the team competes in the Pepsi Showdown, a tournament that features 92 teams from across the state.
