Christmastime is fast approaching, and that means the video game market will thrive under pressure once again. Titles like Star Wars Battlefront, Rise of the Tomb Raider, and Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six: Siege are among the most talked about upcoming releases.
On November 10, the established Tomb Raider franchise reveals another adventure in Rise of the Tomb Raider. This third-person action adventure game follows Lara Croft through her discovery of the supernatural in the treacherous terrain of Siberia. The game will be released exclusively on Xbox.
November 17 marks the release of the third installment of the revived series, Star Wars Battlefront. EA is expecting to see a huge success in this game, especially after the success of the beta. This beta, which focused on the multiplayer aspects of the game, displayed impressive graphics and complex game modes. However, the beta received criticism for the lack of story mode, which the game desperately needs, according to Erik Kain, a Forbes contributor. The game is playable on Xbox One and Playstation 4.
On December 1, the Tom Clancy family welcomes another addition in Rainbow Six: Siege. Developed and published by Ubisoft, the game is a traditional first person shooter with a more strategic spin on it. The heavily deconstructive world presents innumerable options, such as being able to break through walls or climb through windows. Rainbow Six will be available for Playstation 4 and Xbox One.
The next two months present an incredible opportunity for these franchises to keep going. These games may determine the fate of both the Tomb Raider and the Rainbow Six series, while the quality of Star Wars Battlefront will cement the place of the revived series in this generation of games.
