This year’s boy’s 4×800 meter team is set upon their performance at the state meet last year, where they failed to make it the second day of competition.
“Our goals for the 4×800 is to make it down to Saturday at state and maybe and maybe even make the podium,” said senior Hunter Dyer, a runner for the 4×800.
For a team to advance to the competition on Saturday, they must have a certain ranking. The team’s greatest success thus far has been their performance at the Illinois Prep Top Time meet, which they won.
“We took first there after coming back from fifth place,” said senior John Partee, who was the anchor and currently the fastest member of the 4×800 team.
Partee made the podium last year with 3rd place finish at the state finals last year in the individual 800 meter competition.
Partee hopes that his individual success can help propel the team even further.
