Avengers: Infinity war, Marvel has done it again
May 14, 2018
On April 27, the world changing movie was released, “The Avengers: Infinity War”, which was anticipated by many throughout the world.
Many fans of Marvel know the plot of this complex story, but for those who don’t, here is the short version: the Avengers and their allies must be willing to sacrifice all in an attempt to defeat the powerful Thanos before his blitz of devastation and ruin puts an end to the universe.
The movie was directed by Joe and Anthony Russo, who both worked in critically acclaimed series like “Community” and “Arrested Development”. They also both worked on “Captain America: Winter Soldier and Captain America: Civil War”, the two receiving higher than an 80% on Rotten Tomatoes.
In their most recent movie, every character from previous Marvel movies join together to fight Thanos, like fan favorites such as Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man and Chris Pratt as Star Lord, New comer Thomas Holland, as Spider-Man, and Benedict Cumberbatch, as Dr.Strange.
Marvel has gone pretty far, featuring a big cast, but fans were still skeptical if Marvel will do the story justice and stay with the original comic version.
After seeing the film, I was happy that Marvel took the route it did.
The story itself was a constant struggle to fight the all mighty Thanos (Josh Brolin). It had plenty of action and fights that leave viewers with awe and excitement. The cinematography was fantastic as well, establishing very beautiful shots and great camera direction when fights erupted.
It cannot be denied that the CGI in the entire film was top notch; it looked extremely real. Marvel pulled all the strings to make a fantastic and beautiful looking movie. The settings and worlds they travel too are gorgeous, looking very realistic throughout the movie.
The characters were also great, each bringing their character traits the fans adore. Since the movie consists of such a large cast, the screen time division between characters could have been a struggle, but they managed to pull it off, giving everyone a good amount of screen time. The actors were also on point, giving a great performance that brought the loved characters to live.
In regards to Thanos himself, Marvel made a great villain. After a lack of memorable bad guys Marvel finally brought with Thanos and not only made him terrifying but also sympathetic, which is very hard to pull off.
One thing I did not expect was how funny the movie was. Even if the plot itself is very tragic and intense, humor was still present. The jokes and quips were not out of place, like in other movies, every joke was well placed and they were actually funny.
Overall, I was surprised and happy that Marvel gave the story justice, pleasing the fans and casual movie goers as well. I’m happy to say Marvel finally made a movie that is not generic like previous installments.
