Fine Dining and Breathing: Station One Smokehouse

Cost: For the price, I’d like to see some slightly bigger portions for the main entrees. I paid $16.26 for a pulled pork sandwich and two sides. While the sides (mac n’ cheese and fries) were large enough and offered plenty, the sandwich was averagely sized. I do feel that it was filling, but for the $8.99 asking price, I think they should offer a slightly bigger sandwich.
Service: They were friendly and understood what I had to say without having to repeat myself. Paying for my food went smoothly, and they accept cash and card. The entire transaction was pleasant.

Ambiance:Lights are strung crisscross on the ceiling, helping to provide a laid-back environment. Large windows near the front span from ceiling to floor and give customers a view of the bustling downtown streets. Although the music was played at a volume that made it a bit difficult to hear the other journalists from across the table, overall Station One Smokehouse had very casual and fun atmosphere.

Food: Overall, I thought the food was exceptional. I ordered the poutine with a side of cornbread and mac and cheese. The poutine is one of my favorites, which involves fries, cheese curds, gravy, green onions, and a choice of meat. If you’re adventurous I would highly recommend getting poutine, if not there are plenty of other options on the menu. The sides were also pretty good, minus the fact that my cornbread was a little overcooked. I would highly recommend trying Station One Smokehouse, even if it’s a little pricey, they have some of the best BBQ in the area. They had a variety of drinks from tea to pink lemonade to Dr.Pepper. The pink lemonade was watered down, but besides that the other drinks were okay. They had a small selection of soft drinks.
