Based off of the 2010 film starring Michael Cera, a new animated series of Scott Pilgrim v.s The World is expected to release on Nov. 17 through Netflix. The film follows the adventures of Scott, a music-obsessed slacker, and his strive to be with Ramona Flowers, the apparent “dream girl.” Before pursuing a romantic relationship with Ramona, Scott must conquer seven of her evil exes, a seemingly difficult quest. This unique, critically-acclaimed plot has gained a large fanbase over the years and is a staple in today’s world of pop culture.
The film is derived from graphic novels and comics written by Bryan Lee O’Malley which have won both New York and Los Angeles Times bestsellers. Known for their well-polished anime creations, The Science Saru company will be producing the new series. According to Screen Rant, the trailer hints at a fast-paced style with a “star-studded” voice cast.
Nearly all members of the original film will be returning to voice their former characters, including names like Chris Evans, Brie Larson, and Kiernan Culkin. Through various interviews, the ensemble is said to have cultivated a true friendship throughout their involvement in the film 13 years ago. The original movie was recently removed from Netflix in preparation for the arrival of the show, titled Scott Pilgrim Takes Off. With excitement surrounding the story, fans can be certain that the animated series will have more adventure from the authentic cast.
