As South continues further into the school season, many students are anticipating the upcoming Fall 2024 Homecoming Dance.
This year, District 202 is providing electronic date request forms for all high schools. When choosing a guest to bring, who does not attend Plainfield South, students must keep in mind that they have to currently be in high school or at least under 20 years of age, and they have to have good standing in their school, meaning that they must have good behavior, attendance, etc.
The request forms will likely be found in your e-mail once they get sent out, according to Assistant Principal Nieto. The form will automatically fill in your personal information based on your email address, but it’s students responsibility to fill out the portion for the chosen guest.
After the form is submitted, an e-mail will be sent approving the request. Ticket prices will stay the same whether bringing a date from another school or not. Ticket sales are during lunch this year, and there will be no sales at the door on the night of Homecoming.
Many students have already been asking, “Why are we switching the system up?” and the simple answer is, it’s more efficient this way. Not only that but, it helps school officials identify who exactly is entering the building so they can keep students safe. Assistant Principal Nieto confirms that other high schools in the district are acting as a guinea pig this year, trying out this system before South does.
Mr. Nieto states that administrations are “trying to see how it works with the other high schools in our district” who have already started the process. He is currently staying in touch with the other principals, gauging to see what their hiccups were in the system and what he should look out for.
Nieto has good expectations for this new process and has hopes that it will work. Students are likely to see a similar process like this for Prom and other future school events if it is successful.
