Q:What made you originally interested in golf?
A: “Well, I didn’t know what golf was. It was because of a shirt I felt- I liked the material. [That is] kinda stupid but, you know, I didn’t even know what golf was, I just liked the shirt, you know? Touching the shirt just started it all.”
Q:How long have you been playing golf?
A: “Twelve years.”
Q:How have your feelings for golf changed over the years?
A: “I’ve gotten more serious as time has gone on. When I first started it was something new, but as I come into my senior year, I take it more seriously. And, to play in college, division one, preferably. I want to make it a career and not just a hobby.”
Q:What has been your biggest challenge so far?
A: “The mental side of the game. That is something I have been working on my whole golf career, and is something I’m still working on. The mechanics are fine, but at the end of the day it’s all about the mental.”
Q:How have you overcome those challenges?
A: “Just trying to stay calm on the golf course. Taking deep breaths before hitting shots, and by telling myself that one bad round doesn’t define me.”
Q:What is your goal for this season?
A: “Make it to state, and finish top three in the state. The closest I’ve been was five strokes away my junior year.”
Q:Where do you hope to go after high school and how will you get there?
A: “Lots of hard work and perseverance. You just gotta grind every day.”
Q:What other things are you passionate about?
A: “I’m on the tennis team, and I’m a member of the bowling team. I’m a part of the band. Yeah, it’s been a long journey.”
