How long have you been coaching for?
I have been coaching club and high school volleyball for 21 years. I am in my second season of being the varsity coach here at Plainfield South.
Where do our current team’s strengths lie/ Where do our weaknesses lie?
This year my team’s strengths would be our offensive. We have some pretty strong hitters. Our weakness would be our defense, reading the hitter’s arm. I do need to give credit to how well the girls get along and support each other.
What kind of strategies did you implement in games this season / What strategies will you implement next season?
Strategies for this season have been supporting the girl’s mindsets and trying different lines up, until I find one that works best. Next year, a strategy that I am going to implement right away is a program defense routine. Without defense a team can’t run the offense.
How do you feel this season went?
The season is going well but could be better.
What do you look forward to next season?
I look forward to seeing the growth the players will make during their club season. We have a few underclassmen that will be playing a big role next year in the program. I am also looking forward to watching one of our seniors continue her volleyball career at the collegiate level.
What team are you most anticipating a rematch against next season?
Next year, I am looking forward to playing Central, East and North.
Who are your star players or stand out players?
Star Players: Grace Malek, Leah Oemke
Grace is a setter, meaning she is the one that takes the second ball and sets up the hitters, and Leah is an outside, so she hits the ball on the outside of the court. Grace is also our captain for this season.
