March Madness with Brad

Brad McClelland, Co-Editor in Chief

With March Madness in full swing, the NCAA tournament is missing one very important and quality basketball team: the Louisville Cardinals.
They are the most complete basketball team because they are phenomenal offensively and defensively. They could have had a strong chance to win the national championship had they not self-imposed a one year postseason ban for conduct from a coach intolerable for the university.
Louisville was one of the best teams this year defensively. They rank seventh in opponents points per game at 61.1 ppg. They also rank 10th in point differential while ranking 13th in opponent field goal percentage. While their defense is top tier, their offense is just as exceptional, ranking seventh out of 15 teams at 75 points per game.
Their offense is led by fifth year senior point guard Damion Lee. Lee ranks 10th in ppg among all Atlantic Coast Conference players with 15.9 ppg. He also was very efficient from the free throw line shooting 84.3 percent.
Senior guard Trey Lewis chipped in 11.3 points per game in the backcourt. Star forward Chinanu Onuaku, dumped in 9.9 points per game along with 8.5 rebounds per game. Along with all of these tests the numerous games, I have watched they look like the most complete team.
Louisville finished 23-8 which would have got them a 3 seed in the ACC tournament. They would have received a 4 seed in the NCAA March Madness tournament if the tournament were to begin today.
All that is left is the countless hours of speculation of what could have been with Louisville this year along with the result of the NCAA investigation against the school. If the NCAA finds anything else, head coach Rick Pitino could face serious consequences.
