Q&A with Mr. Cougar, Joseph Marmoll

Emily Gonzalez, Staff Writer

Q: What was your initial feelings when you won Mr. Cougar?

A: I was just so excited when I won. It wasn’t about winning, it was mostly about having fun. I liked watched everybody else’s act just as much as I love performing.  It was a really great night.

Q: How long did it take you to learn the lyrics to Ice Ice Baby?

A: I’ve listened to Ice Ice Baby since I was a little kid. Every time it came on I would have to sing along.  I’ve known it since I was seven.

Q: Do you have any stage fright issues and what are your feelings right before you go on stage?

A: It’s not that I have stage fright, I was just nervous I would forget the lyrics, or something stupid like that. Even though I was nervous going out on the stage, after thirty seconds I get very comfortable on the stage.  It’s very fun to go interact with the crowd.

Q: You were the runner up last year, but won this year. So how was your preparation different from last year?

A: I knew what to expect going in, because I had done it the year before. It was pretty much the same thing.  Last year I was actually glad I didn’t win because I got a chance to do it all again.

Q: What is your favorite shape and how does it describe your personality?

A: I would say my favorite shape is a circle because I feel like my thoughts kind of, think in circles sometimes. I feel like something is always on my mind. Not in a bad way.  I just like to reflect on my day and things that are going on.  I feel like it’s contributed to my personality over the years.

Q: What is an unconventional goal you have in life?

A: I would want to own one of those little lemurs. I love lemurs, they are such cute little things.

Q: What is an accomplishment you are really proud of?

A: An accomplishment I’m proud of is going undefeated in basketball in 8th grade. It was really fun, even if it was in middle school.  It was like reaching for old glory.  It was a blast because of the team.  I’ve never been on a team like that.  Usually basketball is a lot of work, throughout the years, but team never felt like work.  It was always fun.
