English, journalism teacher receives award of excellence for her effort

English teacher Caroline Butler received the Award of Excellence for the 2017 school year. She was among 14 teachers in the district to receive this award.
Isabella Paredes, Editor in Chief of the Paw Print, was one of the students who nominated Butler for the award.
“I wanted to nominate Mrs. Butler because she does a lot to help her students and I thought she should have something in return,” Paredes said.
Tori Gapuz, a staff writer for the Paw Print, mentions Butler’s notable kindness.
“Whenever I see her I can’t help but smile. She just gives off this kind energy,” Gapuz said.
With a love of English, Butler said she genuinely enjoys seeing her students learn. She said she always had a drive to help others.
“Growing up I was always the helper in class,” said Butler.
Although Butler decided to start teaching to help others, but she never pictured winning an award for her effort.
“I just thought teaching was a way of sharing my education. I never thought about winning anything for it,” Butler said.
Nicole Robilotta, English teacher, shares her gratitude towards Butler.
“She’s very compassionate and cares about her students,” Robilotta said. Robilotta notes that she can be described as a creative and persistent teacher.
Butler extends her thanks to the people she believes made it possible.
Butler has worked at South since she graduated from the University of Texas in 2006. Butler is currently getting her master’s degree at North Central College.
