New tennis coach strives for team unity

The tennis season at Plainfield South is coming to a close.  Though they had a shortage of players and a new coach, the tennis team did their best to secure wins.

“Our season has surpassed any expectations we had at the beginning” Kevin Sadzewicz, head coach of the tennis team, said.  The tennis team came in first in the PSHS invite and second in the Joilet West Invite.  They have also scored many non-conference games.

The new coach has made changes to the team that have helped achieve these wins.  Dominic  Vescovi, sophomore on the tennis team, said Sadzewicz has focused on basic tennis skills as well as advanced tactics and game strategies.

“My goals for the season are to develop my players into competitive tennis players, increase their Tennis I.Q.’s, and to create a winning culture centered by a strong work ethic, and a close-knit team,” Sadzewicz said.  They practice for two hours after school each day they don’t have a match.  Sadzewicz compares this practice to studying for an examine, one must study as much as possible to excel.

“[Sadzewicz is] always trying to help us improve and knows how to help the team come together and get better as one,” Vescovi said.  Vescovi is proud of the way the season went, both as a team and an individual.

The team’s next game is May 19th.
