On Friday Oct. 27, a group of juniors took a trip up to Chicago to explore their choices for future options.

Shelley Naheedy, high school counselor, was one of the few supervisors on this trip. According to Naheedy, trips like these help students acquire a feel for where they want to go.
“You get a different feel for the size and course offerings and how connected they are to the students, DePaul I feel is a little warmer whereas UIC you’re one of many. So it’s up to you to seek out the teacher,” Naheedy said.

DePaul University is a private university in the heart of downtown Chicago. They also are the largest Catholic University in the U.S., although students don’t need to be catholic to go there.
Going on these college visits helps students determine what kind of school they want to go to. Students can then assess their future based on how well the visit goes.
“I really like it there, and it’s not that far away from home but it’s far enough away and I’m a homebody so I can’t go too far or else I’ll be sad,” junior, Bella Cesario said. Cesario said she enjoyed the trip and going with her best friends made it even better.

Visiting these colleges helps students immerse themselves in their education. They develop a feel for the school and the people that go there.
“The people were pretty friendly. They were just really disorganized,” junior, Cassidy Martin said.

However, there are many options out there to find the right school. There are other campus tours going on that can make someone motivated to attend college. Plainfield South is welcome to campus tours hosting a few every year.

The three college tours the school provided are now over, but that doesn’t stop students from being able to visit the campus of their dreams. Students can get involved and take part in these opportunities so they can thrive in a new school.
