Restaurant Review: Dave’s Hot Chicken

Delaney O'Sullivan, Editor in Chief

Based in Los Angeles and serving Nashville style hot chicken, Dave’s Hot Chicken recently opened a location in Naperville.

The restaurant serves fried chicken strips and sliders as well as a variety of sides such as fries and mac n cheese. Ranging from no-heat to “reaper,” the chain offers seven levels of heat for their tenders. Although the menu is simple, it allows the restaurant to do what it does best: hot chicken.

The sliders are fantastic and include the chicken, bun, kale slaw, pickles, and Dave’s sauce. The fries come seasoned to perfection and the sauce is a great addition to the meal, adding a little more spice. Additionally, the portions are huge and extremely filling. Two people can easily split a two slider combo. They also offer Coke products, bottled drinks, as well as milkshakes.

The service was incredibly fast and the cashiers were very friendly. The menu is easy to understand but the employees were happy to help those new to the restaurant. Upon ordering, the restaurant seems expensive, however, after seeing the large portions, it is very reasonable. There is no doubt that patrons leave feeling very satisfied, maybe even having leftovers.

The restaurant itself has a fun atmosphere with colorful decorations and music playing. There is modern, urban art on the walls, which adds to the laid back vibe. Overall, the restaurant has a very trendy and casual feel to it.

I would definitely recommend Dave’s Hot Chicken to anyone who is looking for a great Nashville style hot chicken place. I hopefully will be returning there soon.
