On Feb. 11 the ‘Pop Culture Clash” was at the Joliet Barnes and Noble to kick off the opening of the 2015 Great Read, a community literacy organization. The Great Read is meant to promote the importance of reading, literacy and conversation in children and adults.

The Clash was organized in teams that answered trivia questions about their specialized pop culture icons. For example, a “Hunger Games” fan was placed on a team that answered questions related to the series.

All members of the winning team received a twenty five dollar Barnes and Nobel gift card.

District 202 along with many community businesses such as The Joliet Public Library and Barnes and Noble are supporters of the organization.

Members are encouraged by supporters to participate in many Great Read related events, such as reading books about pop culture.

A list of suggested reading, dates and a description of events is at this website: http://www.psd202.org/greatread/
