Opinions on recent mass shootings

Mass killings are completely disgusting. It makes one wonder what leads people to go on such unnecessary and evil rampages.

In the past few weeks there have been a large amount of mass shootings with excessive amounts of victims. The shooting in San Bernadino in California on Dec. 2 is a tragedy, and one wonders what kind of monstrous people would attack a center for people with developmental disorders.

The people who committed the felony are sick individuals who deserve nothing less than the highest levels of punishment.

On Nov. 30 there was also a gun violence threat on the University of Chicago, leading the school to close to prevent it. The threat mentioned killing specifically 16 white students.

This was in response to the recent killing of McDonald in Chicago, which is ridiculous. The murder of a teenager by a police officer is unacceptable. This shows how easily people with evil intentions can get into positions of authority.

Both the police officer who killed Laquan McDonald, a sixteen year old black teen, and this wannabe revenge killer are pathetic. The police officer murdered a defenseless teenager, and the attack-planner was going to murder sixteen innocent and defenseless students. Fighting racism with a race crime is preposterous logic. Race wars don’t need to happen, people.

School shootings are possibly some of the more horrific types of shootings. People go to locations where education takes place and murder students out of hatred and in cold blood.

Another very recent incident is the shooting at a Planned Parenthood clinic in Colorado. The motive behind the attack was to get rid of Planned Parenthood. This is an act of domestic terrorism, but not many are willing to say it. Killing people or attempting to instill fear in others in order to further your personal beliefs is, in fact, terrorism.

The United States has far too many mass shootings and threats to commit these sorts of despicable crimes. Even one is too many, but, according to the FBI, there have been ninety mass shooters in the past forty-six years. This is an unacceptable amount. The killing needs to stop.
