Yikes. How do I even start this goodbye?

Should I introduce it with a little bit of Scanlan magic? “P-S-H-S Cougars! Cougars!”. I’ve gotten plenty of mixed reactions about that chant, but honestly, if you weren’t pickin’ up what I was puttin’ down, do you even belong at South at this point (that’s not a threat I promise)?

However, in relation to a sense of “belonging”, I sometimes wonder why I belong at South. I wonder, what kind of impact do I want to leave as I graduate, and embark on my journey into the big-boy world.

I’ve come to the conclusion, that the most significant element for an individual’s preparation for life after high school comes with being involved. Placing yourself into certain school activities/extracurriculars builds lifelong relationships, as well enhanced communicable skills (instead of throwing Bobby Y’s “be involved” lingo out the window, I listened by the way).

The best decision I’ve ever made from an academic standpoint, was joining the Paw Print. As an aspiring journalist, Mrs. Butler, and the team in Journalism Lab, have prepared me for the career I want to pursue in life; without them, I’d probably be joining the Lindenwood family “undecided” on a particular major.

So, shout out them. Well, I’m about done with this goodbye, so I’m just going to shout out some people that have brought joy and laughter to my life throughout my high school career.

Shout out to the football boys (you know who you are), shout out to Coach Radavich, shout out to Bodi’s pump-days, shout out to my Wesmere and Drauden Point families, shout out to Blue Crew, shout out to PSLC, shout out to Mr. President Joey Calabrese, shout out to Ms. Kuhns (she never kicked me out of the library for not having an ID by the way), shout out to the second-coming of Jesus Christ himself, Tom Hernandez, and shout to my boy Shivam Sahdev (because why not).

I appreciate your time, No.33, Jack Leach, is officially signing off.
